I’ve become addicted to the discomfort in my head that comes from learning.

Illustration of cogs moving in the brain.

“I’ve become addicted to the discomfort in my head when I don’t know what to do and the guaranteed growth that happens if I suck it up and push on” Steve Larsen.

If you’ve ever felt this way then you’ll know exactly what he means…

In case you haven’t heard of Steve Larsen, he’s an amazing internet marketer and another one of the people I look up to and aspire to be like in the online marketing world. To think that he too feels overwhelmed at times is very encouraging (sorry Steve, hope your head’s OK, genuine..)

Actually, this came in an email from him yesterday and it was just what I needed to read.

Yesterday was just one of those days when I felt like I was walking in treacle (or quick drying cement). I was trying to work something technical out in Clickfunnels and I just didn’t understand how to do it.

I have been  learning about building sales funnels for a while now and I think I’m getting quite good at it (even if I do say so myself), but today I was quite literally pulling my hair out.

In the end I had to abandon it and go and do something else (It must have been bad, because I decided that hanging up my wet washing was preferable!)

Later, when I was talking to a friend that I haven’t spoken with in a good few months, I realised just how much new stuff I have been cramming into my crazy marketing brain these last few months. I’ve come so far and learnt so much new stuff. I LOVE IT!!

The weird thing is that later in the evening, when I was actually really tired and watching some tv with the kids (30 minutes of downtime each day to connect with them is essential btw, don’t skip this bit..), I had a flash of inspiration. I suddenly understood what I’d been puzzling over and boom!

After the kids were in bed, I grabbed my Mac and started working. I ended up staying up until the early hours, but I made so much progress. I slept like a baby afterwards. It was almost better than sex (steady, I did say almost!)

The next time you hit a wall, just take a break. Do something else to engage your brain in another way. Go for a walk, hang out the washing, do some housework (if it’s really difficult). Don’t beat yourself up. It happens to all of us.

Some things are hard to get your head around at first and that’s ok, but your subconscious brain is capable of working it out, and it’s still working on it, long after your conscious brain isn’t, even when you’re asleep!

Keep learning, keep growing and keep moving forward.

  1. I do not know if it’s just mme or if everyone else encountering issues with your blog.
It seems like some of the written text in your posts are running off the screen. Can someone
else please comment and let me know if this is happening to them
as well? This may be a issue with my internet browser
because I’ve had this happen before. Thanks

    1. Hi there.

      Thanks for commenting.

I’m not sure if this is something to do with my settings, but I will certainly look into it.

Thanks again and hope the issue didn’t ruin your enjoyment of the content too much.

      Regards

  2. Your style is really unique in comparison to other people I have
read stuff from. Thank you for posting when you’ve
got the opportunity, Guess I will just bookmark this site.

    1. Hey really happy that you enjoyed something I penned! It is sometimes hard to find the time to post here, even though I promised myself 2019 would be “the year of the blog” for me. I have lots of ideas for posts, so please do come again.

  3. In this awesome pattern of things you’ll receive an A just for effort. Where you actually misplaced me personally ended up being on your facts. As they say, details make or break the argument.. And that couldn’t be much more true here. Having said that, permit me inform you just what exactly did work. Your authoring is certainly very persuasive and that is probably why I am taking the effort to opine. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, while I can certainly notice a leaps in reasoning you come up with, I am not convinced of how you appear to unite the details which inturn help to make your final result. For right now I shall yield to your point but wish in the future you actually link your dots much better.

  4. It is truly a nice and useful piece of information. I am satisfied that you just shared this helpful information with us. Please stay us up to date like this. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I’m not sure exactly why but this site is loading extremely slow for me. Is anyone else having this issue or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.

  6. I wish to express some thanks to you for bailing me out of such a difficulty. Just after researching through the internet and obtaining solutions which were not pleasant, I figured my entire life was well over. Being alive devoid of the approaches to the issues you’ve sorted out through the article is a serious case, as well as the ones that would have in a negative way damaged my entire career if I hadn’t discovered your web site. Your main understanding and kindness in taking care of the whole thing was crucial. I’m not sure what I would have done if I hadn’t come across such a subject like this. I’m able to at this point look forward to my future. Thank you very much for your impressive and result oriented guide. I won’t be reluctant to propose your web sites to any individual who should have care about this problem.

    1. Hey thank you so much for your comments. It is always great to hear that something you put out there into the ether did actually reach someone. Not only that, but that it connected with someone and helped, even in some small way. I am so pleased that you were able to overcome your problems and to keep going. I posted a quote on mu Facebook profile this week It’s one from Albert Einstein, who I believe spoke a lot of sense “It’s not that I’m smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer”.
Some problems just take more thought and more work to overcome, but if we can only stick with them, then we will overcome and solve them. Good luck my friend and thank you once again for your words of encouragement and support.

  9. Great blog! Do you have any recommendations for aspiring
writers? I’m hoping to start my own blog soon but I’m a
little lost on everything. Would you suggest
starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a
paid option? There are so many choices out
there that I’m totally confused .. Any ideas? Many thanks!

    1. Hey thanks for your question. I would say don’t overthink it. Just get started. You could also start publishing on your Facebook profile, that’s what I did. It’s free and a great way to find your voice. Then once you feel ready, start a WordPress.org site. That way you own it. I hope that helps.

  10. Its like you learn my mind! You appear to know so much approximately
this, such as you wrote the guide in it or something. I think that you can do with some percent to pressure the message home a bit, but instead of that,
that is fantastic blog. A great read. I will definitely be back.
